Description: Vtg 40s 50s MCM Barkcloth Era Curtain Panel Atomic Railroad RR Novelty VGC Vintage curtain panel. Measures roughly 45.5 x 53 inches. Medium to heavy-medium cotton or cotton blend (mostly cotton with a bit of rayon or nylon). Beautifully textured - it's not barkcloth but it is "of the era" and is clearly a high quality textile. Very good condition. A little soiling smudge near the center (see photos). This may respond to a treatment or soak. No dark stains and no holes, rips or sun rot. Selvage reads: "PRINTED IN VAT DYES PRE SHRUNK" with residual shrinkage details. There are two ways to hang this panel; one is a 2.25 inch rod pocket at the top and on the other is a cotton pocket that holds curtain or drapery hooks. Both of these pockets can be seen in photo ; we placed a slim zip tie in one of the curtain hook "cells" to indicate size. Both selvages are intact (they've been turned and hemmed at the sides). Amazing mid-century transportation novelty. There is a red engine speeding across the tracks, control towers, signals and other elements, all done in a fantastic, modernist, abstract style.
