Description: Alva Studios Museum Replica Byzantine-Style Enkolpion (Encolpion) Cross Pendant Necklace. Signed "ALVA STUDIOS". Unisex. Alva Studios of Long Island City, NY, was founded in 1948 by Alfred Wolkenberg. His studio was known for fashioning reproductions of Pre-Columbian relics, art, and jewelry until the 90s. Common metals used were brass and gold tone. Measurements: (also see photos) Pendant- 1"W x 1 "H Chain- 24" L I do not know if the chain is original to the pendant. Other similar pendants I have seen show a glass bead in the center, which this doesn't have. I have seen a similar pendant referred to as "Etruscan Revival". Pectoral Cross Vintage/Pre-Owned.
