Description: Elegant Japanese geisha doll from the 1970's. Beautiful face and stance, with vivid embroidered purple, cherry red and gold kimono. By this time Japanese doll makers had started to use lighter weight and more durable materials such as the wood base, body structure beneath the kimono, and plastic/pliable hands. Still, the doll exhibits all the art, care and grace of older traditional dolls.Her eyes are glass, and here face is probably porcelain resin. There are some discolorations and fading (especially the wood base) as expected from a 50+ year old doll, but nothing that distracts from her beauty.
