Description: This is an original UT-36 Icom Voice Synthesizer that is not easy to find if you are looking for one for your rig. We have one of these come into our hands about every 2-3 years and locating one to offer for sale here on Ebay is extremely difficult. Interested buyers will see one of these come up for sale on an irregular basis. The plug in module is generally easy to install in most Icoms and the device allows the user to hear the frequency readout in either English or Japanese. Many people would not have a need for this module, but is it especially useful for those with eyesight difficulties or in low light conditions when the dial lamp is dimmed or turned off. Installation is done following the instructions that come with your Icom receiver or transceiver. We formerly had a UT-36 in our personal R9000 and to install it in that receiver, we simply had to remove the top door and plug in the board. Installation in most units does not require any soldering....merely plugging in the 5 pin connector data cable and the 3 pin connector audio cable. Please verify your Icom unit for compatibility and for installation information prior to purchase. The UT-36 can be used on several main Icom units including IC-R9000, IC-R7100, IC-R72, IC-275H, IC-475H, IC-765, IC-781, IC-970, IC-820H and perhaps some others. Operation is straightforward. Once installed, you push the "speech" button on the unit and listen for the full frequency readout. On the IC-R9000, the UT-36 gives the readout from about 100 Hz up to 1999.990.0 or for 8 digits giving precise readout. The user can change the language (English or Japanese) or even alter the speed of the voice. We can't recall if you can change the volume level, but it seems when we installed the UT-36 in our receiver a while back, this was also variable.
