Description: Maker: On the reverse of both pf these beautiful plates are two back stamps: the red decorator's mark number 3 (1900-1941) of the iconic Limoges maker Gerard, Dufraisseix & Abbott, or GDA - the firm begun by the legendary Charles Field Haviland - and the GDA white ware back stamp number 1 (1900-1941). Source: third edition of the Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain by Mary Frank Gaston. One plate has an unclear handwritten name or set of initials on the back - it's shown in the photos. Design: In keeping with the exceptionally high quality that made Haviland porcelain so famous and so coveted, the gold-trimmed plates are beautifully hand painted with a band of delicate pink roses and tiny green leaves against backdrop of thin translucent pure white porcelain. Condition: Both plates are in excellent condition with no marks, nicks, chips, cracks, stains, scratches, discoloration, repairs or wear. One has a tiny spot of missing gold on the edge - it's shown in the photos with the red arrow. Please check all the photos very carefully - they are an important part of the description.
