Description: Rare and collectible antique pair of Augsburg silver Louis XVI Neoclassical German candlesticks by Johann Philipp Heckenauer and Johann Christian Neuss. Featured are fluted column shafts resting on hand embossed plinth bases with wreaths and sunken in wells. The candelabras hold three lights each. The bases are hallmarked IPH for Johann Philipp Heckenauer and the year date A with the pinecone or pineapple motif above which refers to 1783. The wax/drip pans are Hallmarked ICN for Johann Christian Neuss and the year date B with a pinecone. Both bases also have the assayer's puncture (tremolierstich or zig zag line). They measure~ 14" tall and 4 3/4 x 4 3/4" at the base. One weighs~ 1041g and the other~ 1080g. Condition: One candle holder has a wobbly base. One top insert has a small broken off piece of silver. I noted some thin cracks in the silver arms. I noted a small repair to one arm. Some general patina noted. The arms are not perfectly symmetrical or exactly the same length as they were formed by hand. Please see last 5 pictures for condition and please don't hesitate to ask questions. This set is in otherwise beautiful antique condition and quite rare.
