Fabulous Downbeats: Ask Me b/w Life Goes On Recently found -- a box of BRAND NEW, unplayed copies of this very rare 45. Produced by 'Doc' Cavalier at Trod Nossel Studios, this is the ORIGINAL pressing from 1968, not a bootleg or re-issue. Poison Ring #0010. 2. Incredible Broadside Brass Bed Band: Little Dead Surfer Girl/Bullfrog Blues Poison Ring / Trod Nossel #717. Band based in New Britain, Connecticut fronted by singer/songwriter Bill Comeau. Formed in approximately 1970 and active over several years around Connecticut clubs and concert venues, with ongoing lineup changes. The style of the band originally was ragtime which evolved into including an eclectic range of satirical humor. From their album "The Great Grizzly Bear Hunt", here is their rare 45 of Little Dead Surfer Girl b/w Bullfrog Blues. 3. Johnny Parris: Together Love/Hold Back Poison Ring / Trod Nossel #720. These 2 songs were recorded and released by Poison Ring Records (one of Thomas 'Doc' Cavalier's label) in 1971. On the B side, he was backed up by Tension, a band that he often fronted as lead singer. Check out Tension's version of Chicago's Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is. To the best of our knowledge, the Johnny Parris who recorded on Poison Ring Records is not the same person as the Johnny Parris who was the lead singer for Johnny & The Hurricanes and The Cascades. 4. Novelty featuring Ron Clark: Handwriting on the Wall/Long Time WaitingPoison Ring / Trod Nossel #714. 5. Pulse: Another Woman b/w My Old BoyPoison Ring / Trod Nossel #711. New Haven, Connecticut’s 1960s Blues/Pysch Rock outfit Pulse rose from the ashes of two other popular area bands: The Shags and Bram Rigg Set. Both groups were managed by music entrepreneur, engineer, producer, label and studio owner Thomas “Doc” Cavalier. Cavalier also went by the moniker Trod Nossel and dubbed his recording studio and management company the same. Trod Nossel quickly inked Pulse to a record/management deal; and the sextet hit the studio with Cavalier behind the console. In 1968, Pulse, comprised of Carl Donnell (vocals), Peter Neri (guitar, vocals), Paul Rosano (bass), Richard Bednarcyzrk (keyboards), Benet Segal (drums) and Jeffrey Potter (harmonica), followed the success of their debut release with their stunning self-titled full length LP. The record was released that same year on Trod Nossel’s label Poison Ring Records. Heavy, bluesy, fuzz-drenched late 60s Rock and Roll. 6. Ray Zeiner (Wildweeds): I Had A Girl/You Know Your LovePoison Ring / Trod Nossel #721. Ray Zeiner, former keyboard player with the Wildweeds one of Connecticut's most successful groups of the 1960's from 1966 to 1969. This song was recorded with the Wildweeds, but released as a single by Ray who wrote and sang lead vocals. 7. Tension: Does Anybody Really Know / It's A FactPoison Ring / Trod Nossel #713. This version of Chicago's classic was released on a single prior to Chicago's own version being released on a 45. Produced by Johnny Parris. 8. The Bone: It's An Easy Thing / Everybody's Gone Into AprilPoison Ring / Trod Nossel #712. 9.
