The Romantic Age of Steam Series Plates, "The Crescent"

Description: "The Romantic Age of Steam" Locomotives 8" Collector Plates (2). Individual. "The Empire Builder" SOLD was released as the First Edition in 1992 by Bradex (formerly Knowles), plate #7373A (no total number provided). It was the name of the Great Northern Railway’s premier passenger train that ran between Chicago and Seattle/Portland.The first Empire Builder train was launched in 1929 and was powered by a P-2 class 4-8-2 “Mountain” type steam locomotive. The P-2 class locomotives were built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works and were capable of hauling the heavy, luxurious train over the Rocky Mountains at high speeds. The Empire Builder was later re-equipped as a streamliner in 1947 and switched to diesel-electric locomotives. The Empire Builder is still in operation today as an Amtrak service, offering scenic views of Glacier National Park and other natural wonders along the route. (info via AI on Microsoft). "The Crescent" was released as the Fifth Edition in 1993 by Bradex (formally Knowles), plate #1959A. It is a name that has been used for several passenger trains in the United States, most notably the one that runs between New York City and New Orleans. The current Crescent is operated by Amtrak, but it traces its origins to the Southern Railway, which introduced the Crescent Limited in 1925 as an all-Pullman train between Washington, D.C. and New Orleans. The train was renamed the Crescent in 1938 and became famous for its green and gold livery and its Ps4 Pacific steam locomotives. In 1970, the Southern Railway merged the Crescent with another train, the Southerner, and extended the route to New York City. The train was then called the Southern Crescent. In 1979, the Southern Railway transferred the operation of the train to Amtrak, which restored the original name of the Crescent. The Crescent is one of the longest-running passenger trains in the country, and it offers a scenic journey through the Appalachian Piedmont, the Deep South, and the Gulf Coast. (info via AI on Microsoft). The low cost is simply to move it after Christmas, rather than still sitting in my barn next winter... ;-) Ground Advantage shipping will dramatically lower your costs "per plate", and therefore overall. The "plate price" remains constant, while the $hipping prices are calculated automatically by # of plates in your cart and your zip code.
