Description: Fully functional - great shape! They don't make them like this any more. These staplers from the 1950s - 1970s were all built to last. Each of them staples smoothly. First there is a Bostitch B8 stapler from the 1950s. This uses Bostitch B8 staples, which are "crowned" - meaning the top edge comes to a slight point in the middle. These staplers are readily available on Amazon from a variety of manufacturers, but they are different from "Standard" staples you'll find in the Home Office aisle at Target. Apparently, this crowned design is superior engineering, per the Stanley website: "As the staple is flattened during the staple drive, the crown design forces the staple legs outward so they are fully supported by the stapler magazine throughout the drive. This design helps deliver more stapling force and reduces buckling for maximum penetration." Second is a vintage Swingline "Tot 50" stapler -- a classic of junior high school design and still available new at any office store. The modern Tot 50 is quite different, though. This version is the original 1950 design: it can be opened flat for tacking, it uses #10 staples ("Tot" staples - smaller than standard staples), and it loads by pushing the button on the back and pulling the red plastic cover backward. The 1950 version, like many productions of its time, is much sturdier than modern staplers. The other two staplers are unbranded #10 staplers. One of them is an obvious visual copy of the Tot 50, while the other uses an interesting undercarriage loading system. Both are in great shape.
