Description: This is a magnificent piece of Austro-Hungarian Emerald Ruby and Pearl jewelry. It is in the Renaissance Revival style and dates to circa 1870. The gems are all set in silver gilt as was the custom of the Austro-Hungarian jewels. The piece has two wonderful hexagonal cut natural Emeralds of the most wonderful green color. There are seven gorgeous round faceted Rubies. These rubies have the most fabulous vivid red color. There are three beautiful silvery white pearls. The jewels are set in an articulated pendant with four articulated sections. The pendant is in the Renaissance Revival style. It retains traces of enamel decoration. The overall effect of the gems and the beautiful silver gilt in this early antique piece is truly magical. The pendant is 3 1/2 inches (9cm) long, and 1 1/2 inches (38mm) wide. The necklace is 19.5 inches long. The clasp is hallmarked with early punch marks which I cannot decipher. The necklace and pendant are silver gilt - silver with a gold wash. The necklace weighs 15.4 grams. Sapphire Pearl Necklace Bird Horse Deer Austro-Hungarian Renaissance Revival Track Page Views WithAuctiva's Counter
