Description: Roland GR-700 OS v5 (1.5) EPROM Firmware Upgrade KIT OS v5 (1.5) is the last known revision issued by Roland for the GR-700. Included will be 2 brand new ATMEL OTP EPROM chips, recently manufactured to ensure data integrity well past our natural lifetime. Keep in mind that the GR-700 itself is not for sale, only the EPROM chips are.Unlike some others, No used or refurbished as “new” components will be supplied here. What you see pictured is what you will be receiving. No random bait and switch photos here! To check what version your GR-700 is running, with the unit turned off hold down STRING SELECT 4 and power back on. If you are running v5 you will see 1-5 on the LED display, otherwise consider purchasing v5 here and get rocking! If requested - A link will be e-mailed to you with the GR-700 service manual for your own personal reference. I find this to be quite useful and informative The OS v5 upgrade contains several bug fixes, improved stability and finalized system code optimizations: New preset banks. [If you happen to be running version 4 and prefer the preset banks contained within, I strongly suggest you back them up before proceeding with the upgrade] New way of MODE switch handling: In earlier revisions v1 to v4 the mode switch offered 2 levels of sensitivity, standard and sensitive. Now in v5 sensitive is replaced with a generally quicker response time as well as determining pitch in half a wave cycle. MIDI input code – This will be useless to most as owning a GR-700 with the midi expansion is a rare unicorn in its own right and MIDI retrofits are equally as rare. In the event you do have a GR-700 with MIDI, then it is highly probable you are already running v5 either way. Be sure to take note of the marked orientation notch on the side of the EPROM to ensure correct installation. EPROMS inserted backwards will be destroyed. Incorrect insertion of ICs is also likely to cause damage to the board. All EPROM upgrades have been prepared in an ESD-safe production environment and will be packaged in equally ESD-safe materials.
