Description: Roland Alpha Juno-2 OS 2.5u EPROM Firmware Upgrade KIT This upgrade version v2.5u is final known operating system firmware issued by Roland for the Alpha Juno-2. Included will be 1 upgrade chip to complete the upgrade. All EPROM upgrade chips supplied here are brand new, recently manufactured and sourced direct from ATMEL to ensure data integrity well past our natural lifetime. Please keep in mind that the Alpha Juno-2 itself is not for sale, only the EPROM upgrade chip will be supplied. After the 2.5u EPROM upgrade is installed, the firmware revision "Ver 4.3 2.1.2.86" will be listed on the screen. Blame it on Roland for having quirking naming and numbering conventions. The 2.5 upgrade provides bug fixes, optimizations and new additions such as: All earlier firmware revisions pre 2.5u had an issue that when the Juno-2 receives a mono mode (m=1) message, it automatically turns CHORD MEMORY ON. This issue was subsequently corrected in the 2.5u update. Translated from Japanese to English: “Corrected the MIDI receive routine to release the Juno-2 from specific functions, except when keyboard play is initiated. This results in a crash prompting a message stating TONE NAME which is sent from another Juno” If requested - A link will be e-mailed to you with the Alpha Juno-2 service manual for your own personal reference. I find this to be quite useful and informative. Be sure to take note of the marked orientation notch on the side of the EPROM to ensure correct installation. EPROMS inserted backwards will be destroyed. Incorrect insertion of ICs is also likely to cause damage to the board. All EPROM upgrades have been prepared in an ESD-safe production environment and will be packaged in equally ESD-safe materials. Purchase with confidence!
