Description: Revolutionary War period staved wooden canteen circa 1770’s An American Revolutionary War period wood canteen attributed to the Reeds family from the Lexington/Concord Massachusetts area (There was a speculation that it could have belonged to private Peter Reed Sr 1701-1791 of Concord Mass.) A staved wooden canteen with interlocking wooden hickory hoops, carved with initials on both ends, a large “R”over a large “P” on one side and “P R” on the other and a perhaps and A under the spout. A truly lovely Massachusetts Colonial period 1770’s civilian/ field farmer’s canteen. 8” by 6” Condition: Very nice condition with a very pleasing patina, the bands are a bit lose in the Winter months and tighter in the Summer, there is larger and a small chip at the edge contemporary to the era, as the wear is the same throughout and a small old repair other than that it is in super original shape. Overall a fantastic well used Revolutionary accoutrement piece.
