Pre-Revolutionary American 4-Poster Bed, near Queen size

Description: Perhaps the nicest and grandest of 18-19c American beds, a stunner of a 4 poster canopy bed in just-about a queen size (queen fitted sheet fits), most unusual for the time. This was made for someone important and affluent 250 years ago. All solid mahogany with bookmatched burled faces on the drawers, hand tooled-bronze dore' hardware and 'Bennett's Patent' cast iron assembly cleats. Barley-twist posts end in large, detailed carved claw-feet. Will accept any modern memory foam type mattress with the corners cut 5" and sewn over to accommodate the posts or have a custom mattress of your choice created. The mattress space is 62"x80". We've never seen one with the integrated 4 drawer storage under the frame-would love to know if you find another one. Modern platform fitted around the original rope pegs to hold the mattress. Not pictured is the included original canopy frame that meets in the bed's center-finial missing but can be made but raises overall height to 12.5'.
