Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-GB X-NONE X-NONE Here is something you don’t find every day: an earliest 1st pressing with 1G stamper, which is complete and 100% original throughout and with the very hard-to find lyric sheet given out at the earliest performances in January and February 1972. So many copies of DSOTM being offered for sale seem to be a mix and match of parts from later pressings, but this one is complete and 100% original throughout, with the original black poly-lined inner sleeve, earliest fully matt posters, earliest ‘PERMANENT’ stickers and the correct, original 'midnight blue' cover. This is also one of the very first off the press, with the first press matrix numbers, first mothers on both sides and the first stamper on side one, as follows: Side 1: SHVL 804 A-2 1 G Side 2: SHVL 804 B-2 1 AP A stereo stamper would typically be used to press only about 300 copies, so a copy with the first mother and first stamper on side one and complete with the original first press cover, original inner sleeve, original posters and original stickers is a very rare find. But with this one also including an original and very rare lyric sheet from one of the earliest performances at the beginning of 1972, this is probably a "one-off". Vinyl: The vinyl has retained its original high sheen with some fine hairlines and sleeve-removal marks, as well as a more-obvious mark on ‘Us and Them’ which I’ve shown close-up in the final photo. I have played the entire record and it sounded great with little to report. Please note that this copy does NOT have the pressed skip in 'Money' often found on first pressings - there are no jumps or skips anywhere. There was some minor background noise in the run-ins/outs, fades, segues and silent parts, the occasional isolated click, and a few places where you get a brief, short-lived tic, but these were unobtrusive and generally last no more than a handful of revolutions: the only exceptions were ten clicks in the intro to ‘Breathe’ and about twenty, decreasing in volume, in ‘Us and Them’ (caused by the mark mentioned above and shown in the final photo), but that was all, and there was nothing overpowering anywhere. Much of both sides plays virtually flawlessly and would grade as Near Mint (NM), but because of the small issues mentioned above I am going to play-grade this copy as Excellent Minus (Ex-). Labels: Both labels look great with no damage, writing, stickers etc, just some mild spindle marking. Sleeve: This is the original 'midnight blue' cover and it is not sealed on the left edge. It is nice and clean with no writing, splits, tears etc, just minor signs of age and use. Inner sleeve: This is the original black, poly-lined inner sleeve. There are no seam splits or tears just some slight creasing and minor signs of handling and use. Posters: These are the original posters. They are the absolute earliest examples printed on fully matt paper and they are nearly impossible to find as a matching pair. These original posters have never been on display and so have no pin-holes, sellotape, blu-tac etc, just some age-related discoloration on the seams of the rear panels which are on the outside when the posters are folded: I’ve shown the rear of both posters in the photos. Stickers: These are the earliest PERMANENT stickers with the wavy-lines on the backing paper. These pre-date the 'Crack-Back' stickers found in later copies. They are both unused with no major issues, although there are some minor signs of age, in particular some discolouration around the edges of the dark sticker, and a small corner crease on the light sticker, where it slipped inside the fold of the gatefold cover.Lyric sheet: A Piece for Assorted Lunatics is an original from one of the very first performances. It is creased and shows plenty of signs of handling and age etc, but it is complete and intact, and for such a rare item (made of paper), it is in decent condition. Detracting features not covered above: None. This is one of the earliest examples and it is 100% complete and original throughout and with the super-rare 'A Piece for Assorted Lunatics'. I think it would be hard to find another one like it. All photographs are of the actual item for sale. Please ask any questions before you bid or buy. Where gradings are given these are based on the UK Record Collector grading system (see below) and are visual gradings only, unless the listing specifically states that it is a play-grading. I use the UK RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM. This grading system differs from some other grading systems, in particular the Goldmine grading system. Please make sure that you are familiar with the UK record collector grading system before you bid. Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint. Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. Good: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc. Fair: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced. Poor: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing. Bad: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler. Plus (+) or Minus (-) are added where items fall between gradings. I only ever use one plus or minus. P&P costs as follows: UK: First LP or 12" record = £4.95, each additional item no extra P&P charge. First 7" record = £3.50, each additional item no extra P&P charge. Europe: First LP or 12" record = £15.95, each additional item = an extra £2.20 P&P charge. First 7" record = £11.95, each additional item = an extra £1.00 P&P charge. Rest of the world: First LP or 12" record = £24.95, each additional item = an extra £2.80 P&P charge. First 7" record = £14.95, each additional item = an extra £1.40 P&P charge.
