Description: CIRCA 1880-1890 VINTAGE TINTYPE OF SEVEN (7) MAN RACING BICYCLE GROUP OR CLUB WITH THREE (3) NICELY POSED & CLEARLY VISIBLE SIDE-VIEW OF "BULL DOG" HANDLE RACING BICYCLES BETWEEN THEM IN A PASTORAL OUTDOOR SETTING Image measures approx. 3" x 4 3/8" in size with edges covered under the matte. Showing,the image measures 4 1/4" x 2 3/4" in size - slightly bigger than a CDV. NOTE THAT ALL THREE BICYCLES HAVE "BULL DOG"RACING BIKE HANDLES. APPARENTLY A GROUP OFRACING TEAMS. The image is not bent and there is a glazed 'crackalure' often found in tintypes because of a coating sometimes added after the image was processed - is atypical of this time in photography - which adds character. The image is basically clean and pristine in many ways - with no bends or chipping to emulsion whatsoever. A real nice pastoral scene. Most of the bicyclists have matching suspenders on and the same type of shirt. A few also have bow ties. Clearly some sort of bicycle enthusiast group or club. Scratches, 'crackalure' to tintype surface and scattered emulsion minute aberrations throughout consistent with age and use but overall displays nicely.
