It is complete with original patriotic red, white and blue ribbon. Obverse ~ Central coat of arms of the City of Birmingham within the legend " The Great War 1914-1919. Birmingham Peace Celebrations". Reverse ~ Winged Victory holding olive branch. Above is the legend "Pax Victoris". (Peace and Victory). To celebrate the cessation of hostilities of WW1, the British people were given a national holiday in 1919. School children were also given the day off and many street parties and other celebrations were held. In order to commemorate the celebration, some local councils had medals struck and presented them to the school children from t area as a momento of the event. This is one of such medals. A nice medal to enhance your collection and quite scarce, especially in such a fabulous condition as this.
