Description: This is a stunning original early American double mourning painting created around 1816/1817, recently discovered in a local estate. Possibly originating from New England. The work features a weeping woman shown besides a grave adorned with two classical urns. A structure can he seen to her left and right and a willow tree grows behind the grave. The central plaque commemorates one Patty Armsbury and Beulah McLallan. Online research reveals a Patty McLallan Armsby being the daughter of one, Beulah Bacon McLellan, and living/dying in Worcester County, Massachusetts. (See photos.) This may be who is referenced in the above work. Medium: watercolor on paper. Framed as show (newer) Approximately 15 1/2 x 19 1/2 inches, in oval. Framed size: 26 1/2 x 29 3/4 inches
