I think much of this can be brushed or scraped away. The soles look like they have not been worn. The distressed leather on the tops of the shoes looks scuffed and dry. I think they may need some leather treatment. I don't know the exact age of these. They were made in England. Dr Martens stopped manufacturing them in England in 2003--so they are at least 21 years old On the insole of the right shoe there are some marks---these appear to be where the price tag located when these originally went on sale.
