Description: Historic Bison Tibia Leg Bone With Articulated Calcaneous Astragalas And Tarsals. Found last fall eroding out of a 15 foot high hard clay river bank. This Tibia has numerous joint bones adhered to it, possibly by mummified soft tissue, connective tissue etc. The weight is approximately 4 pounds 7 ounces. The piece is unprepped. No one I've talked to has seen anything like this... except for the fully articulated bison foot that is adhered to a radius, ulnar, and partial humerus bone, which I also found in the same location on the same day. This appears to be an exceedingly rare find and you'll likely not find anything like this anywhere. I'd need to do radio carbon dating to say this is a fossil, but it's more than likely that this bison died long, long ago. As it is unprepped, radio carbon dating can still be completed on this piece by the buyer.
