*Extremely Rare* Angelus SF215 Hungarian Air Force Farkas 'Hunting Party’ watch

Description: UPDATE: Should there be no expressions of interest in this item at near this price, it will be removed from eBay 01 DEC 2024. *Extremely Rare*Angelus SF215 Hungarian Air Force Farkas 'Hunting Party’ watch. Size: 38mm without the crown, 48mm lug to lug, takes 20mm strap. Reluctant sale, but I already have another L.E. example of this great watch and you can’t wear two. Purchased from Berlin Germany in about 2017, running well, all functions work well and chronograph function works perfectly. All original watch, case had been lightly polished before I received it back in the day. A really rare example, never seen another for sale ever, having been given as a present to members of a Xmas time hunting party, 2nd Dec 1951, I am sure that crowd was not large and the number of watches given very small. All the measurements of this watch are standard for these military watches and don’t confuse them with the flat chronograph buttons, the military ones issued to the Hungarian Airforce are the round bull buttons as shown in the photos here. Open to reasonable offers, though I am more than happy not to sell this one…so don’t be offended if I decline…lol. I will not be opening the watch for ‘tyre kickers’ so don’t ask for photos of the movement. Happy to provide a movement pictures once purchase is completed, and prior to dispatching will provide a photo of the movement after my watchmaker has opened it…the movement is pristine (from memory) so this should be a formality…then and only then, if you are not satisfied we will cancel the order. Certainly do your own research, but for those that know, it should be straight forward. I love old Angelus watches and enjoy collecting, and more import Wearing them, very much under the radar brand of watch and continue to give pleasure to Angelus owners world wide. E.”, for “Légi Erö”. On the back always also appear the framed Angelus logo and the serial number. Balazs Ferenczi lately did also very extensive research on this watch model (an excerpt is online at: “#TBT Angelus caliber 215 Chronograph L.E.”, at fratellowatches.com). He lately compiled a highly valuable database of all known Hungarian military Angelus watches, establishing that two dial versions were made and that the overall number of known watches is just a bit higher than 20. A comparison of Ferenczi’s great database with another watch model in the serial number chart in the study on hand now made it possible to identify the manufacturing dates of most of the Hungarian air force chronographs: One watch of this model, but without the “L.E.”-mark, has a personal engraving showing that is was a gift from the Hungarian defense minister Farkas, and is dated 1951 in the engraving, therefore establishing a time limit, before which the watch was made.
