Belleek Basketweave Shamrock Teapot w/ Lid 5 Cup 4th Mark (1946-53) IRELAND

Description: Gorgeous 5 cup teapot from Belleek Pottery in Ireland, a company known for their delicate and detailed Parian ware, characterized by its thinness and slightly iridescent surface. Manufactured in County Fermanagh, Ireland (later became Northern Ireland) since the mid-1860s, Belleek Pottery gained a worldwide reputation for high quality porcelain.The Shamrock pattern seen here, designed by Michael Maguire in the early years, remains Belleek's most popular pattern. It features an embossed basketweave inthe ivory colored porcelain with hand painted green shamrocks and brown splitbranch-like handles on the pot. The ivory porcelain is translucent and very thin, butdurable.This teapot is backstamped with the company's 4th mark, first green (1946-1953),which includes a registry mark with the words "deanta in eireann" (made in Ireland). The change to green was felt to be less obtrusive than black at showing through the translucent china. The 4th mark is identical to the 3rd mark in every way except the color.This teapot is in remarkable condition with No chips, cracks, repairs or stains. It measures approximately 5" tall with lid and approximately 5 1/2" diameter ( 9 7/8" spout to handle). Its pristine condition is a testament to its previous owners.
