Description: Battle of Britain Air Force Cross cover signed by Squadron Leader 'Hawk-Eye' Lee DFC, Battle of Britain pilot and fighter ace JS(CC)93d RAF Battle of Britain cover, dual numbered JS(BB)13d as part of our Battle of Britain mini-series, depicting four Hawker Hurricanes of No 501 Squadron flying in formation and along side the Air Force Cross (AFC) gallantry medal is shown. The cover bears Royal Mail 17p Lord Dowding / Hawker Hurricane stamp which is shows 'SD-N' cancelled with 60th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain postmark. The cover is hand signed by a Battle of Britain pilot who flew with No 501 Squadron, Squadron Leader Kenneth Lee DFC whose aircraft 'SD-N' is depicted on the cover and the stamp. Lee was acreditted with over 8 victories between May and November 1940. Lee was shot down in 1943 and was held as POW in Stalag Luft III at Sagan and Belaria until May 1945. Official special, numbered and certfied on reverse. Squadron Leader Kenneth Norman Thomson Lee DFC Joined the RAFVR in 1937. 1939 joined 111 Squadron and then following commission joined 43 Squadron. IN september he joined 501 Squadron. He was awarded the DFC in October 1940. He later joined 112 Sqn in the Western Desert.
