Description: ___________________________ Offered is an artifact from the experimental atomic energy period. It is a blade from a uranium gas pump used at the Atomic Energy Commission's Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Portsmouth Ohio (shut down in 2011). The blade is mounted on a pedestal with a hand written label "BLADE FROM URANIUM GAS PUMP (PORTSMOUTH)". This was a souvenir given to my father, a physicist who worked at the plant from its opening in 1952 to 1963. Accompanying the blade is a carbon copy of a letter written by the United States Atomic Energy Commission in 1957 verifying my father was employed at the Atomic Energy Plant. The document is intact but the auction photo has the names whited out. The blade and pedestal is 8½ inches tall. It weighs 1 pound 1 ounce. Please see the photos.
