Exteriors of the books are well intact with some minor darkening to the gold gilded and embossed title text to the spine faces. Outer corners and edges of the upper and lower ends of the spine and coverboards show some minor bumps or rubs. Exteriors are overall clean with some minor and vague soiling spots here and there. Interiors of the books show light to moderate foxing here and there throughout though the majority of the pages are still clean and bright. Pages are still sturdy and have not at all brittled. Books' bindings are tight and the books are structurally well intact with a few clothbacked bookbinders tape reinforcements at the gutters between the first few sets of endpapers of volume 1. Front endpapers of both volumes have former owner's name stamps and volume 1 is signed by NY state senator and comptroller Eugene M. Travis. Both volumes together total 2032 pages. Both volumes together weigh approximately 6 1/2 pounds and together measures approximately 9 1/8 x 6 3/8 x 4 5/8 inches.
