Please note there is an additional signature present on the same page! Despite our best efforts, we have been unable to ascertain, with an acceptable degree of certainty, the identity of the other individual who also signed this book.For this reason, we MUST proceed with an abundance of caution and assume it is simply the signature of a previous owner.We MUST assume the additional signature adds no monetary value of has any cultural significance.If anything, the other signature should be viewed as an unfortunate flaw. A TRUE First American Edition/First Printing/First State with ALL First Edition Points present! This rare treasure has some very clearly visible wear, but is still in Highly Desirable, Highly Collectible condition! The wear, however, should be carefully examined/considered BEFORE buying. The book appears gently read and other than the previous owner signature we mentioned earlier, has no internal writing, no remainder marks, no missing pages and is NOT Ex-Libris or a BCE. The binding is holding tight and the pages are still surprisingly crisp and clean! Some general/shelf wear along with creases/scuffing/wear to the spine/corners/cloth boards, marks/foxing/wear to the edge/fore pages and creases/marks/foxing/wear to the pages, NOT affecting the text! Please note the wear to the spine/corners/cloth boards, particularly noticeable near/along the edges, the numerous marks/foxing on the edge/fore pages and the wear that is present on the pages, particularly noticeable on certain pages! Please also note the previous owner signature on the first, blank page! The wear is very clearly visible and should be carefully examined/considered. The original, First State dust jacket is fully intact and NOT price-clipped! Some general/shelf wear along with creases, scuffing, scratches, rips and marks. There is also a piece of clear tape attached to the inside of the dust jacket. Please note the wear on the spine, at the corners and near/along the edges. The wear, particularly near/along the edges, is very clearly visible and should be carefully examined/considered. We tend to grade the condition of our books rather harshly and took into consideration any and all wear when determining the value of this rare book. Knowing how difficult it is to find Signed First Editions of this title, if this copy was in better condition, our asking price would be considerably higher.
