Description: Akai AX-80 EPROM Firmware Upgrade KIT / ROM Upgrade Chip AX80 The primary purpose for this listing is to provide spare and backup parts for the repairing and maintenance of AX-80 synths. Included will be 1 new EPROM chips to complete the upgrade. All EPROM upgrade chips supplied here are brand new, recently manufactured and sourced directly from ATMEL to ensure data integrity well past our natural lifetime. Given the age of the AX-80, it is not uncommon for existing UV EPROM chips to have some form of bit rot. The AX-80 itself is not for sale here, Only the EPROM upgrade chip will be supplied. I find this to be quite useful and informative There are 3 hardware revisions in the AX-80 series, “I”, “K” and “L” – which should be noted when purchasing in order to ensure that you will receive the correct ROM for your AX-80. The way to determine this is simple for the most part, simply open your AX-80 and have a look at the sticker appended to the EPROM chip. If some how the sticker is missing have a look at the CEM3372 series chips, you should see CEM3372B, CEM3372C or CEM3372D. B series CEM chips require the “I” ROM. C series CEM chips require the “K” ROM. D series CEM chips require the “L” ROM. Unlike some others, No used or refurbished as “new” components will be supplied here. Protect your investment! Be sure to take note of the marked orientation notch on the side of the EPROM to ensure correct installation. EPROMS inserted backwards will be destroyed. Incorrect insertion of ICs is also likely to cause damage to the board. All EPROM upgrades have been prepared in an ESD-safe production environment and will be packaged in equally ESD-safe materials.
