Description: Lot of 3 Antique Original Gouache / Watercolor Botanical Study Paintings 1901 Approximately 9" x 12" This set of 3 original paintings came as part of a larger antique portfolio all painted by the same person. In this lot, one painting is signed Sarah Levis. The other two are not signed. In other paintings from the portfolio (not for sale with these), some are signed S.E.L. or Sadie (Sadie is a nickname for Sarah) and most are dated 1901. These paintings were acquired in southeastern Pennsylvania. There was a Sarah Levis who was a painter in the 1890s in the greater Philadelphia area; I believe this is the same one. I am not an expert, but believe that the paintings are done in gouache and/or watercolor. The paper is fairly heavy and appears to be the type from a sketch or painting book. The paper looks aged with typical browning and a few spots. Some edges are worn/rubbed. Please view all photos as they are part of the description.
