Description: 1966 Weyerhaeuser HUNTERS’ MAP - Snoqualmie Falls Tree Farm North Bend “Welcome Sportsmen! If you would like to hunt in our forests - the game is here! Almost every acre of our land is open to you. We do have a few rules, but they are necessary ones. The need for care with fires is obvious, so please be careful at all times. Where gates are closed, understand us here, too. You are in a forest where active logging is going on. Without a few do's and don'ts, someone could get hurt - a logger, a hunter, perhaps you. The rules do not protect just our interests, but yours as well. Please read them, and stick to them. As you hunt you will see a pattern of old timber, cutover land, and large areas where a new crop of young trees is being grown. As old trees are cut and young ones replace them, the pattern changes. Just as trees change, so do game populations. In the old timber game is scarce. But after logging, fresh browse grows up that allows deer and elk to increase. Fairly recent cutovers are the best places to look for your animal In time, however, the young trees growing up on these harvested lands shade out the browse plants that game animals need for food. So the deer and elk decrease. But, elsewhere, older timber is being logged according to our forest management plan. New areas are constantly coming into condition to attract game - and provide good hunting as well. Balanced forest and game management provide trees and game in abundance So now, good hunting!”
