It is the scarce 50c reprint variety with new listing for Scott Catalogue 2019. The original description lumped all block tagging sizes together. In 2019 Scott lists 1869a measuring 19 x 21.5mm and 1869f measuring 20 x 24mm. The actual height ranges between 23mm to 24mm. We guarantee accurate identification. The history behind the printing of the Admiral Nimitz issue is complicated. This is the 3rd variety printed out of 5. The stamps were first printed on the old I-8 currency press, then switched to the A Press, and later run on the C and/or D presses. They were assigned to printing press 702 but most likely were actually printed on C press 901. The Nimitz stamps were dropped from USA Philatelic in the Holiday 1998 issue.
