You are buying a 1834 Capped Bust Quarter graded MS64 by PCGS, B-4, R.1. This Choice Uncirculated issue is virtually untoned with just a touch of toning at the rims. The coin has outstanding luster and is well struck aside from a couple of stars. The B-4 variety can best be recognized by Star 1 being relatively close to the bust and Star 10 is repunched. On the reverse the 'OF' is distant from AMERICA and there are several die cracks at the STATES OF and on many of the lower reverse elements - making this near-Gem a perfect type coin to represent the series-ending years. Overall a lovely example of a fairly rare series. The new quarter was smaller in diameter and struck at 24.3mm. And, the reverse was absent the ribbon with the incuse E PLURIBUS UNUM above the heraldic eagle. This capped design was used until 1838 when replaced by the Seated motif designs.
